Intragastric balloon

Doctor SVG

Device that is placed in the stomach to help lose weight WITHOUT surgery.

Intragastric balloon

What is it?

The gastric balloon (SPATZ 3/ORBERA): is the procedure recommended for patients who have 10 to 25 kg extra weight.

The amount of weight you lose and maintain will depend on how well you follow your diet and adopt long-term habits. It is important that you remain committed to your weight loss goal throughout the treatment process. The ball is a tool that will help you lose weight, but the real work begins with your commitment to the goal.

How it is performed?

It consists of introducing the balloon into the stomach with an endoscope, through the mouth, and once inside it is filled with liquid, remaining in the shape of a balloon; The capacity it occupies is 50% of the stomach. You can lose up to 25 kg and it is completely ambulatory.

  • Duration: Aprox. 15 minutes.
  • Anesthesia: Sedation and local anesthesia are used.
  • Procedure: Completely outpatient.
  • Recovery time: On the third day you can return to your normal activities, taking care not to lift weights greater than 25 pounds.

Adjustable ball:

The increased volume of the SPATZ 3 revives the effect of the balloon, which helps achieve greater weight loss results. Decreasing the volume of the gastric balloon helps patients deal with balloon intolerance and greatly reduces the chances of having to remove the balloon early.

No incisions are made and no hospitalization is required.

It is not permanent, so it can be removed at any time, although its duration varies from 6 to 12 months.
